Marching through Georgia: My Walk along Sherman's Route
Published in Paperback by University of Georgia Press (2002)
Author: Jerry Ellis
Average review score:

Hang on to Your Hat!
This is a wondrous book filled with detailed Civil War history and the author's personal encounters with fascinating people as he walks across Georgia, following in the footsteps of Sherman. I felt like I was right there with the "bummers" who plundered Southern homes and burned them to the ground. At times terribly sad, this book is also enriched with heart-lifting humor. Highly recommended.

Marjorie Main : Rural Documentary Poetry
Published in Paperback by Mesa Verde Press (10 December, 1999)
Authors: John Sherman and John J. Sherman
Average review score:

Back Home Again in Indiana.....
Having spent some time on a farm outside Muncie, Indiana myself, I was drawn into his stories immediately. I could taste that same well water in the rusted cup; I could see that old cottonwood tree and John would have eaten my mother's pie crusts! His life experiences on the farm are both funny and heart wrenching.....at times I didn't know whether to laugh or cry or both. The feelings of not ever measuring up to the people who lived in the town were the most poignant for me.....that he felt that made me sad because I never felt that way. John's poems are a true slice of life for those of us who grew up in the rural midwest.....something I'll treasure and pass along to my children.

May Sarton: Selected Letters, 1916-1954 (Vol 1)
Published in Hardcover by W.W. Norton & Company (June, 1997)
Authors: Susan Sherman and May Sarton
Average review score:

Takes away the sour taste left by Margot Peters's biography.
Sarton was a master of the art of letter-writing. The notes are useful, the editing is superb, and Sarton shines through as a rare, passionate, and exacting friend and lover. My only complaint is that this volume is "selected," not "complete." I'm looking forward to Susan Sherman's next presentation of the gentle art to which Sarton stayed dedicated throughout her life.

The New Central Asia: In Search of Stability: A Report to the Trilateral Commission: The Triangle Papers: 54 (Triangle Papers, 54)
Published in Paperback by Trilateral Commission (January, 2001)
Authors: Sherman W. Garnett, Alexander G. Rahr, and Koji Watanabe
Average review score:

Best report of its kind
This report renews with the spirit of cooperation which prevailed in the West prior to 1988 and goes beyond the monotonous TINA mentality of the 1990s. It describes the situation in Central Asia, the variety of governments from fundamentalist Taliban to more democratic republics, the impact of energy on politics, the role of the global and regional powers (US, Europe, Japan, Russia, China, India, Iran), the complexity of relations between ethnicity, religion, development, the risks of not assisting those regions for the people themselves and the rest of the world, the relations that should exist between the West and Islam and also the importance to learn more about those 1 billion people stretched from Morocco to Indonesia.

The report is also a breakthrough because it states the importance of distributing the revenues of oil among the population, avoid dictators pilferage those revenues but that they are invested in sustainable growth and integrate those countries in the global system. This echoes German Foreign Minister concerns about the risk paused by failed states on global security. Corporations are recommended to look for more than their revenues and States to avoid useless Great Games in Central Asia to ensure stable and viable societies. It also proves the World Bank and other international organisations are serious about their desire to improve global material conditions.

An excellent introduction of Central Asia and a new era in International Relations

The New Guide to Sea & Sea
Published in Paperback by Orca Publications (July, 1998)
Authors: Joe Liburdi and Cara Sherman
Average review score:

The New Guide is excellent
This book is an excellent guide to underwater photography, as well as to the specifics of the Sea & Sea product line. Many underwater "how to books" focus on SLR cameras and the Nikonos camera. This book gives an exceptional overview of the features of the Sea & Sea line, the many accessories that go with the line, and the how to information specific to the line.. In addition to all the great product information, the book as well gets into the specifics of shooting underwater photography in a language that even beginners can grasp, and I should know, I am one of those beginners.
